Feeding the Olsen Fix.

More candids of MK and Ashley in New york. Ashley wears Chloe sunglasses, and her amazing Hermes croc birkin bag. I'm lovvving MK's boots. I love when the line of fem/masc is blurred. Btw, I was mistaken before, I don't know if MK's bag is YSL... Anyone know?

The September Issue

Here is the poster for the documentary The September Issue. For those of you that don't know, the documentary shows Anna Wintour and her team working on the 2007 September issue of Vogue (Fall fashion). We posted a little preview a week or so ago and it looks really good. The documentary also includes some famous fashion people like; Karl Lagerfeld, Nicolas Ghesquière, Oscar de la Renta, Phillip Lim, Stefano Pilati, Thakoon. I'm so excited

Olsen update.

Thank God new candids of MK have surfaced. I seriously need to see what the girls wear on a daily basis to feed my inspiration tank. MK was spotted in NYC with her sister, Lizzie. MK wears her infamous Balenciaga boots *sigh* and a YSL bag. I love the coat and I really like the knit her sis is wearing as well.

This should be interesting....

WWD is reporting that Robert Duffy (the president of Marc Jacobs International) said that for the designer's aw09 on Feb. 16 the guest list will be cut dramatically. The company will reduce the number of those invited from 2,000 to 700. I can't imagine being invited to a Marc Jacobs fashion show (I'd prob throw up, then pee my pants) and then get dis-invited (I prob throw up, pee my pants, and then start to cry).

What I Wore (this week)

Im the kind of person who will put together an outfit, get obsessed with it, and wear it 3-4 days in a row. Its not until my mom or sister say "isn't that shirt getting dirty?" that I realize I need to mix it up. This week I wore this outfit to school and work ahah

  • Black beanie - not sure??
  • Leather jacket - Diesel
  • Black shirt - The Row
  • Watch - Cartier
  • Jeans - Diesel
  • Bag - Gucci
  • Shoes - YSL "The Rolling"

Tamara Mellon

Tamara Mellon speaks out about shoes, sayings she lives by, and what is next for Jimmy Choo.
"I probably have 700 to 800 pairs, which are all catalogued," said Mellon, recounting: "I've always loved shoes and bags - I became particularly obsessed by them in the early Nineties" - and it's an obsession that, 13 years later and a host of Jimmy Choo outlets worldwide (including Ginza, New York and Barcelona) seems to have paid off.

"The sayings I live by are 'Feel the fear and do it anyway,' and 'Don't sweat the small things'."

So, what's next?

"I would love to accessorise a woman completely - fragrance, watches, scarves. There are so many accessories, so that's on my wishlist," Mellon said, noting however, that something along the lines of a diffusion range was not on the cards. "We wouldn't specifically do a diffusion line of shoes but we have started to do a jelly thong which is more accessible."

Former YSL partner speaks out

Pierre Berge, former partner of designer Yves Saint Laurent, made some comments that have attracted a lot of attention within the industry. When asked about the state of the current fashion industry he said, "Italians don't make clothes, they make spaghetti. Versace is nothing and now that he's dead, it's less than nothing. And Cavalli's no good either." He also said the his former partner, "detested fashion, style is what he liked." You can see why his comments have been getting so much attention!

Acne Presentation

Here are is an amazing look from the Acne presentation during Stockholm fashion week. Check out those shoes!

Kate Hudson for InStyle UK

Here are some highlights from Kate Hudson's interview with Instyle UK...

On Stella’s clothes: “Stella makes clothes that are easy to wear. I find that of all the clothes I have in my closet, when I’m hurrying and want to just look nice and put something on, they are Stella’s”

On her mom getting rid of her old seventies clothes: “I got so upset when I learned she threw them out. I want them! She wore the most amazing clothes in the Eighties too. She had so much Azzedine Alaïa. And the shoes! I’d walk into her closet and she’d have every colour of pumps imaginable. I remember my favorites were magenta and turquoise.”

Cathy Horyn rips new Valentino designers a new asshole.

Cathy Horyn wrote a review of the Valentino aw09 couture show, and she was brutal, but honest. The collection was beautiful, but we've seen it...

In contrast to the scene around the show, the clothes produced absolutely no emotion. They were dead on arrival, starting with the first red coat. Much work went into that sun ray draping, but the effect seemed wooden, lifeless. These clothes were designed to please Valentino, to reflect his legacy and archive, and for the most part they were just that — imitations. If the new designers thought for themselves what the Valentino story meant in contemporary terms, it was not evident. Frankly, I kept thinking, Valentino could do most of this stuff himself — he already has — so why not let him? And while the new designers are obviously using the Valentino workrooms, their clothes were heavy clunkers compared to Valentino’s collections. How do you get from the superb show he did in Rome in July 2007 to this empty collection?
Sure, the new designers kept the template, but something happens when a designer retires: the audience expects to see a new beginning. If I were the Permira guys, I’d be worried if all I heard was how fabulous and “very Valentino” the show was. What is it going to look like next season and the one after that? It’s going to look exactly the same. Nothing is going to change. And that’s the kiss of death in fashion. I’m a little surprised that Giammetti and Valentino are letting their egos get in the way and are supporting this approach. They’re smart guys. But I can’t think of one label that has survived by repeating itself. Look at what Tom Ford did at Gucci, Lagerfeld at Chanel, Galliano at Dior — they all set off a little bomb and started over with the bits that interested them. Not the whole thing. And a new audience found them. Maybe Chiuri and Piccioli will loosen up. Maybe they will think for themselves and not like respectful students in the school of Valentino. And maybe the don will finally let go.

Jessica Simpson... I think she looks good. no?

Jessica Simpson has received some bad publicity lately about her weight. I think she looks fine, but then again, she is wearing a parka...Anyway, she looks good with her Marni boots, Vuitton bag, and Dior sunnies. Eh, she doesn't have amazing taste, but she looks nice.

Inspiration

I should be studying for my art history mid-term tomorrow, instead Im visiting the cobra snake and the sartorialist. Im so jealous that the cobra snake is in Paris sitting at the Couture shows, rubbing elbows with Rick Owens, Anna Wintour, and the famous offspring of Miss Carine Roitfeld. I can't imagine being surrounded completely by fashion. Just looking at these pictures you can get an idea of the raw asthetic that the designers create each season. It just pushes me even harder and inspires me so much more to do well and one day, I'll be at fashion week, watching the Couture shows. With that, here are some of the most inspiring pics Ive seen in a while. (I SPY, the Stephen Sprouse for Louie Vuitton shoes that I MUST own, an amazing pair of Margiela black and white wedges.... seriously, I die. Lou wearing a Balmain dress, my sister's pink Stella shoes, an amazing runway shot form the Armani Prive show, black nail polish, men wearing fur (thank you) and the amazing YSL platform ankle boots from last season.)

Proenza Schouler Accessories.

I know this is a bit of old news, but I wanted to post about Proenza branching over into accessories. I was looking online at saks and came accross an amazing Proenza flat and it sparked an interest in what Proenza has to offer for bags and shoes. We sold the ss08 shoes at Intermix, and I really wasn't a fan at the time. However, the shoes and bags for aw08/ss09 are stunning. And when the boys of Proenza gave MK the PS1 bag to carry, I admit, I kind of fell in love.Take a look!

Givenchy Spring 09 ad

We love Givenchy. For Spring 09 ads, Givenchy used pretty much the same group of models.

Kiera Knightley attends Chanel ss09

Kiera Knightley was among the lucky few to attend Chanel's ss09 Haut Couture show in Paris. She wears Chanel head-to-toe from the Paris/Moscow collection.

www.Fashionweekdaily.com gave a great spoiler of the show. Check it out!

"For Spring 2009, Karl Lagerfeld took Coco Chanel's adage--as a woman ages, she should dress increasingly in white--and created a super-chic collection entirely in blanche--with just a touch of black. But Lagerfeld's looks suit the young--starlets Keira Knightley and Olga Kurylenko eagerly watched from their cocktail table perches--as well as the young at heart. Inspired by an animated pop-up book, the collection oozes Lagerfeld's idea of "new modesty." In the spirit of children's tomes, accoutrements included flowers (in headpieces and also adorning silhouettes), leaves and bows, as well as refined sequined ribbon trim and pearls adorning the tweeds, taffetas, chiffons, organzas and guipures. The silhouette favored cap-sleeves, with a tiered, sculpted look on suits and dresses that gave a playful yet sophisticated effect. The handiwork was equally otherworldly: a single dress embroidered with pearls and sequins, trimmed with leaves and flowers, took 800 hours to make."

Christian Dior spring/summer 2009

In the Christian Dior show the collection included full fifties skirts creating a shapely silhouette, constructed sleeves, some cinched waists, and dramatic hats. The color palette included mustard, turquoise, lavender, candy pink, and peach. Today is Chanel, Christian Lacroix, and Givenchy and I cant wait to see the collections!!

Who are some of your favorite designers? Alexander Wang, he’s amazing. Chanel, I love Chanel. I don’t know. I’m kind of a vintage-y girl. I kind of just like what I like. I shop at flea markets.

Who are you style iconsCarrie Bradshaw. Sex and the City. Jimi Hendrix.
